KiraKira Artistry LLC began in Kyoto, Japan, back in 2012 as a volunteer effort to ensure full-service kimono experiences were accessible to college students for whom the costs might have otherwise been prohibitive. Projected to begin in December 2024, KiraKira Artistry will start accepting nominations from individuals and charity organizations for Japanese nationals abroad and individuals of Japanese heritage who may not otherwise have the opportunity to celebrate important milestone events in kimono. Our goal is to further kimono culture by increasing access and ensuring individuals do not miss out on important, time-honored celebrations such as Seijin-no-Hi or Shichi-Go-San. Annually, two recipients will receive an all-inclusive photoshoot package: hair, makeup, kimono rental, kimono dressing, photoshoot, retouching, a private online gallery, and 10 high-resolution digital files. We will also offer additional images, rental and dressing for family members, and photo products at special rates for participants.

Our mission is to make celebrating cultural milestones accessible to individuals who might otherwise miss out due to logistical or financial constraints. We especially focus on supporting university students and those living or studying abroad, who may not have the opportunity to experience these important events without our program. We invite you to nominate deserving individuals, including your reasons for nominating them and their current location. While our photoshoots are offered primarily in NYC and NJ, we may be able to accommodate those in nearby states or cities.

We accept nominations year-round on a rolling basis. While Seijinshiki and Shichi Go San are traditionally celebrated in January and November, many prefer to take commemorative photos during the warmer months. Submissions are reviewed every six months, and as we can only accept two nominees per year, we will announce when the available slots have been filled.
